How our DEXA scans work

Our self-referral DEXA scans are conducted at a Harley Street clinic to measure bone density, fracture risk, and body composition. The painless, low-dose, quick scan costs £325 inclusive. Receive a consultant-radiologist report within three working days, helping you detect osteoporosis early or track fitness and nutrition progress effectively.

DEXA scan report

A One5 Health doctor will review your answers within 1 working day. The outcome of the GP review will be sent to you by email with next steps outlined.

We are usually able to book you in for your scan within 5 working days. We often have same-day availability. Scanning appointments are available at our Harley Street Clinic Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.00pm.

Payment to be taken at the point of booking.

Reports will be sent out within 3 working days of your DEXA scan appointment. If everything is normal we will send you a PDF report to keep for your own records. If anything shows as abnormal, a One5 Health GP will provide advice on the best next steps along with referrals as needed.

Bone density & body composition explained

What is a DEXA scan?

DEXA, or dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, is a quick, low-radiation imaging test that sends two harmless X-ray beams through your body. By analysing how each beam is absorbed, the scanner calculates bone-mineral density and maps fat and lean tissue. Clinicians use these metrics to diagnose osteoporosis, monitor treatment and optimise fitness.

Why book a DEXA scan with One5 Health?

Our GPs assess scan suitability and review every consultant report, translate T-scores into plain English, and design action plans covering nutrition, exercise, and medication where relevant. If follow-up care or referrals are needed, we co-ordinate everything through the same holistic doctor-led approach.
