At One5 Health we offer same day bookings for private Covid-19 Coronavirus testing from our Central London clinic locations or from the comfort of your own home. We provide both viral Covid-19 RT-PCR antigen swab testing, to know if you currently have the virus, as well as the Abbott and Roche antibody blood testing to know if you have had past exposure to the Covid-19 virus.

We now also provide the coronavirus rapid antigen test which can tell you if you currently have covid-19 within 15 minutes of doing the test.

If you are travelling abroad in the near future and you need a TRAVEL COVID RT-PCR TEST CERTIFICATE then you must have the Covid-19 RT-PCR swab test done either in clinic or at home by video call in order for us to check your identification and issue this certificate to you.

We will work closely with you to organise the timing of your test according to your flight schedule and the specific Covid-19 immigration rules for the country you are travelling to.

What is the difference between the PCR and Antibody test?

The covid PCR test tells you if, at the point of doing the test, you are positive or negative for covid 19.

The antibody test tells you if the recent past you have had exposure to covid 19 AND have developed antibodies against it. A negative covid antibody does not mean you have not had covid-19 before it simply means you do not have antibodies against it at present.

What covid test do I need for a Fit to Fly Certificate?

The covid test required for travel is always the Covid RT-PCR swab test. This test must be negative in order for you to travel safely. There are very few countries that will require an antibody test in addition to the RT-PCR test. There are no countries or airlines that just require a covid antibody test. If you are unsure about which covid test you need for travel, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Covid Test Details & Timings

How will my test be taken?

PCR tests require a swab to be taken from the back of your throat and nose. It can be a little uncomfortable but should not hurt. This can either be a guided self swab or taken by one of our doctors. Antibody and Antigen tests will always be carried out by a healthcare professional.

I need a negative test for my flight. When should I take the test?

Different airlines and countries have different requirements regarding when a test must be taken. Many require a negative PCR test to have been carried out no more than 72 hours before a flight, but please check the government's foreign travel advice for your destination to establish their exact requirements. Please be aware that a very small proportion of tests will return an inconclusive result and will require retesting. We do therefore advise you take your test as soon as permitted for your trip. For instance, if you require a test taken not longer than 72 hours before your flight at 1pm on 10th May, the optimal time to take your test would be at approximately 2pm on 7th May.

I need a Covid test for travelling. What test should I get?

The majority of countries require a PCR test. We offer PCR tests with both same day and next day results. This is the gold standard of Covid-19 testing. A few countries will accept antigen lateral flow tests, but please check the requirements for your destination country.

Can I have a test if I have Covid-19 symptoms?

If you are experiecing any symptoms that you feel might be covid-19 then you can book an at home test. There are multiple delviery options for at-home self tests. Please see the at home covid testing page of the website.

What type of PCR tests do you offer?

PCR is the PHE approved, gold standard Covid-19 test. This is a SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) reverse transcriptase real-time PCR swab. We work with 2 different laboratory partners to guarantee that we will always have a supply of tests.

What's the difference between an PCR swab, antigen and antibody test?

A PCR is the gold standard test to determine whether you currently have Covid-19. This is the test which most countries require for entry purposes. An antigen test, also called a lateral flow test is also used to check for current infection. This has the advantage of being quicker and cheaper than a PCR test, but can be less accurate at lower viral loads. An antibody test looks to see whether you have had the virus in the past. Antibodies are believed to confer a degree of immunity to the re-infection by the virus. If you require your test for travel purposes, please check the latest requirements for your destination country before booking.

What is the Covid-19 policy for my particular country or airline?

Different countires and airlines have different policies and they are changing frequently. To ensure that you have the most up to date information, please contact your airline or review the latest government's travel advice.

What type of antigen test do you offer?

One5 Health have selected the Healgen Scientific Covid-19 antigen test. This is available from £120 and is one of the 3 UK Public Health assessed antigen tests with a sensitivity of 96% and a specificity of 99% compared with PCR. Some countries will accept this test as a condition for entry such as the USA and Italy (as of February 2021), in which case it is significantly cheaper and quicker than PCR. However, the majority of places still stipulate PCR so check the requirements for your country before booking as a fit to fly certificate. A healthcare professional will take a swab from your nose and carry out the point of care test. You will receive your results and doctor's certificate by email within 3 hours. Please note that this test is not suitable for children under 5, who should have a PCR test instead.

Can my child have a COVID-19 test?

We can carry out PCR tests on young children. All of our doctors are highly trained in taking swabs from children of any age group. We are unable to carry out our rapid antigen tests on children under 5 years old. Children under 5 should have a PCR test.

Do your tests detect the new UK variants of Covid-19?

Yes, all our test partners have confirmed that their sensitivity and specificity is unchanged with regards to the new Covid-19 strain in the UK. They will not however differentiate between whether you have the "pre-existing" or novel strain.

Do you do postal tests?

We offer an at-home testing service. Please see the Home Covid Testing page of our website. There are three different delviery options but we recomend rely on our courier service rather than Royal Mail to ensure postal kits are received back in the laboratory as quickly as possible. Given the critical importance of fast results and correct swab technique we do not entrust your test sample to the postal system. Samples can be taken in one of our two medical centres located in central London. We then have our team of in house couriers who collect them to take to the laboratory. In this way we are confident we can offer the highest level of accuracy and reliability for your Covid test.

What covid test do I need for a Fit to Fly Certificate?

The covid test required for travel is almost always the Covid RT-PCR swab test. This test must be negative in order for you to travel safely. There are very few countries that will require an antibody test in addition to the RT-PCR test. There are no countries or airlines that just require a covid antibody test. Some countries have started to allow rapid antigen tests but you will need to double check exact entry requirements on the UK government website. If you are unsure about which covid test you need for travel, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Test To Release

What is the Test to Release scheme?

Test to Release is a government scheme to enable people arriving in the UK to reduce the amount of time for which they must self isolate. The government have appointed One5 Health as an official Test to Release provider. Anyone who arrives in England from outside the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man needs to self-isolate for 10 days. Under the Test to Release scheme, you can choose to pay for a private Covid-19 test after you have been in England for 5 full days. If the test result is negative then you can stop self-isolating immediately. For instance, if you arrive in the UK on Monday then Tuesday would be your first full day in the UK, and you cannot take the test for Saturday. If you require Test to Release, then please ensure that you select Test to Release as an appointment type on the booking page or it will not be accepted by the goverment.

Can I get a test to reduce my quarantine when returning to the UK?

One5 Health is an official provider for the government's Test to Release programme. If you wish to shorten the amount of time you need to self isolate then please visit our Test to Release page for details.
